Metropolitan Community College – Longview offers one of the best automotive programs in the United States
Known alternately as MCC-Longview, Metropolitan Community College-Longview is known for its excellent automotive technology programs in the United States. It also provides a platform for entry into the 4-year Academies upon completion of courses here.
A short historical overview
Originally established as Kansas City Polytechnic Institute in 1915, the college has undergone a number of name changes. Until 2005, it was known as Longville Community College and was renamed Metropolitan Community College-Longview in 2005.
Campus
Five campuses are operated by MCC. The main one is at Lee’s Summit while the others are at the Penn Valley campus in Kansas City, the Maple Woods campus in Kansas City, the Blue River campus in Independence, and the College of Business and Technology in Kansas City. 5 departments on campus are humanities; Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology and Business.
Programs offered
MCC-Longview prepares students to attend a four-year college or enter a career of their choice. A variety of certification and degree programs are offered to students. The college also offers transfer opportunities and vocational and technical programs. Associates of Arts, Teaching, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Applied Science, and Certificates are awarded at the college.

Acceptance
MCC-Longview has an open admissions policy. For select programs, students can apply either online or on campus. Either US citizenship or the legal presence of a non-US citizen are admission requirements. Documents, transcripts, and other credentials must be submitted to the College Registrar’s Office. Upon completion of placement tests, students are required to attend an orientation session before selecting classes. Online registration facilities are provided at the Student Centre.
Accreditation
Metropolitan Community College-Longview was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1969.
Student services and financial aid
Metropolitan Community College – Longview offers remedial services, academic and career counseling, career training costs, job placement and daycare services on campus. Intensive university courses in the morning or evening are also available. Financial aid includes federal, state, local, and institutional grants, scholarships, and student loan aid. Other scholarships available are Pell Scholarships, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Scholarships, and Academic Competitiveness Scholarships.
